Hi everyone,
We thought you’d enjoy hearing about a cool little development that came out of one of our recent team huddles. While we (Chris and Cheryl) have never been big fans of meetings, something our previous jobs ruined for us, we do regularly gather the team for quick “huddles” to stay aligned on development. And every once in a while, those conversations send us down a rabbit hole that turns into a really great idea.
That’s exactly what happened a few days ago.
The MAGIC Moment: During the discussion, we were tossing around ideas for our BETA program and shipping units in shipping containers to locations for install. That sparked a memory that Chris had about meetings with various groups who were asking us if we could mount our units on top of shipping containers.
So, can we? YES! What about for ALPHA and BETA? Most definitely YES! Shipping containers would allow us to build self-contained testing systems which could greatly benefit both our ALPHA and our BETA setups.
In simple terms, this would allow the turbine, generator, tracking electronics, load, and batteries to all live together in one integrated physical space. When the wind blows and the turbine spins, the power is captured, the data is recorded, and the energy is stored & tracked, to be then used -all within the same space, without need to involve external infrastructure.
A self-contained system like this could open up several advantages:
• Flexible testing at our new headquarters. We could install 2 complete ALPHA testing units (one on each end) on our shipping container and then perform head-to-head comparisons. The container could be moved around the property and placed wherever we want, adjusting locations as needed.
• Simpler BETA site installations. Instead of connecting into a homeowner’s electrical system or batteries, we could potentially bring a complete testing unit to the site—no trenches, no complicated electrical hookups, just set it up and start collecting data.
• New opportunities for mobile applications. As mentioned above, we’ve had inquiries from some groups (military and disaster-relief) about mobile setups for remote power requirements or disaster preparedness. This new concept aligns really well with that kind of use and having everything self-contained is quite appealing in these situations.
In short, this idea could significantly expand how quickly and easily we deploy ALPHA and BETA units, while also speeding up the pathway to a very useful application for our turbines.
All from a simple team huddle. Moments like this are one of our favorite parts of the development process.
Thank you again for continuing to follow and support our journey. We truly appreciate it. If you’re interested in supporting us or in getting in on the action, please consider investing! Investments help us continue our R&D and will help us through our BETA testing and into production. More info can be found here: www.wefunder.com/HarmonyTurbines
Below are a couple of recent team photos from the new shop—we’re feeling strong, motivated, and everyone says hello and thank you!
