We're excited to announce that the newest TEST iteration of our scoops finally arrived!  

Last fall we conducted a series of tests in our small wind tunnel where we compared the performance of a large variety of scoop designs. 

Our testing determined that there were a few designs that deserved full-size, real world testing, so we chose one that could easily be manufactured and that may perform better than our current scoop design. It will be nice to correlate our wind tunnel testing with real world testing.

We just received two sets of these scoops and we'll be installing them in the frames we've been building (and showing you) the past few weeks. This is an important step for us as we prepare for Alpha Testing on our building! 

The new design may look familiar to some of you, as it represents a typical savonius design, but the main difference is that these can furl, which no other savonius wind turbine does currently. So, our Alpha Testing will not only compare generators, but will also compare performance between the more traditional savonius scoop design versus our original helix twist design, while incorporating the furling mechanism into both.
