Guess who’s ordering a full-size version of their new scoop geometry?  WE ARE!  After testing 150+ miniature wind turbine models in our wind tunnel, we have finally chosen our next model to test at full-scale on our rooftop.

This is a huge step for us, as that decision did not come lightly.  There were MANY designs we tested that showed promise of substantial improvement over our current 8-scoop and 2-scoop designs, but many of them also introduced extra complications from the engineering and practicality side of things. So…therein lies the decision. Do we take the time to work out the complications in the BEST performing one? Or do we pick one that is easier (requiring less time to implement) but that should still perform considerably better than our current design and what’s currently on the market?

As you’ve probably guessed we’ve gone with the more simple design that gets us into BETA (and ultimately production) more rapidly. Perfection is not always the best course of action in cases like this. We can still work on better performance down the road but for now this was the clear choice for us. Hooray! We are actively working on the CAD drawings; our order for the new full-size scoops should be placed in the next week.
